Why I created this website
By: Todd Mitchell
A friend of ours was in trouble. We could not find her and was looking on line for help and it was not easy and complicated to find help. We did find her but the resources are out of date. I thought to create a website with all emergencie phone numbers with easy access. I talked with a number of people after I made the website and thought the community was in the prosess of making one live so I put my website on hold. 4 months went by another one of our friends died. With no help she tried hard and finally the disease of addiction took her at a young age. My wife said just make the website and we both thought if we can save one person this website is needed. So I wanted it to be as simple as possible and user friendly. Now we have mentalhealthsaltspring.com.
Mental Heath Flag
About The Flag
The Mental Health flag represents support for all efforts in mental health. We at The Pete Foundation, along with widespread collaboration from Louisville mental health organizations and advocates, as well as professionals from many other backgrounds, introduced the flag in 2020. Collectively, it is our hope that this flag will serve as a worldwide symbol for people who identify with mental health awareness efforts.
Green is already the established color for mental health awareness, and for that reason is the base of the flag. The design of the flag reflects a sunrise and the shift from dark to light through brighter shades of color. These shades also represent the various states of our emotional or psychological life. The value of the simple design is to make it more relatable, replicable, and transcultural.
